Fionna Murray was born in London and graduated from Chelsea College of Art in 1995. She completed an MFA at the University of Ulster, Belfast in 1997 and lives and works in Galway, Ireland.
Murray has exhibited extensively throughout Ireland and Europe, and has had solo exhibitions including the Galway Arts Centre (2000); Rubicon Gallery, Dublin (1998 and 2001) and Metis NL, Amsterdam (2009). She has been awarded a number of residencies including the Ballinglen Arts Foundation (2001), Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris (2002) and Duende Studios, Rotterdam (2010). In 2010 Murray was first prize-winner in the Claremorris Open Exhibition and won a subsequent prize in 2013.
Murray’s work is held in public collections including The Office of Public Works, Ireland; The University of the Arts, London; The National University of Ireland, Galway; The Merrion Inn; Ballinglen Arts Foundation and Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris.
